[my robotics adventure]

we were invited by the bicol science centrum to attend a robotics seminar last june 17 at 1-5 p.m.i am joined by my not-so-funny friend nathaniel, and my instant-kachikahan-at-katawanan close friend, herbert together with our pisiks teachers, sir jonatz && ma'am dy, with edmaren,dinnex, and travis [juniors].yey!we were excused from class.bad part is, we need to catch up with the missed lessons.tsk.anyways...

we rode a padyak, paid four pesos, registered, and finally sat down for the seminar.other schools were there too.usi,unc,ncf, and other schools (elementary & hs) whose names are not that memorable.

i was shocked as i saw the big banner hanging infront of us as it shown the name of Mr. Sevedeo J. Malate - my big brother's coach on robotics at pisay.i no longer doubted.i knew before that mr.sev is the best man to do the job for he had already topped on numerous national competitions on robotics - the reason why they always compete outside the country. he's part of the reason why my brother reached china and getting such unexpected fame.

of course, i wasn't ignored - being the sister of his former apprentice.[hha.instant popularity!]

we started at about 2 p.m. 'cause of too much delays.[filipino time].he started showing us some of his robots namely 'table cleaner robot', robodog, 'tribot', the 'jellyfish-looking robot', 'six-legged robot' and my favorite KOKEYBOT (koo'ky-boot as pronounced my mr.sev but should be ko'key'bot).Mr. Sev, as I would admit, has weird pronunciations. it was really a laugh having something to pick on somebody.but i'm not making fun of him.it's just that it's simply funny.he unusually pronounces words like...

• embed - imbid
• science-fiction - science peksyon
• radiactive - radyoactib
• feelings - peelings...etc.

there are more but i prefer not to air them anymore.as i said, i'm not making fun of him or whatsoever.i'm just fond of it.i still have my respect to him and i won't play jokes on a 3-time national champion and world robotics participant.hat's off to you sir sev!

well, the exciting part of our seminar was having to manipulate the robots on ourselves.i find it really easy.even elementary children could do it.it's as simple as one, create your own program; two, download it; then three, run your robot.it's as simple as that!.

after the seminar, the school - headed by sir jonatz - is now planning to join and catch-up on the competition on robotics on October.we're still bothered by the RCX programmable brick property which disappeared from it's compartment.the RCX is the one where the program is being the downloaded for the robot to run.it's the most important part of all, and yet it's the one which got lost.[damn it!i'll curse its thief!]

now, we are just looking forward to sending letters to certain people for them to agree in sponsoring the school with a robotics kit worth P39,000. our hopes are really mountain-high.wish us luck!
